An organic diet can quickly get rid of pesticides in the body, SIMON WEBSTER reports.
Eating organic food for just one week can dramatically reduce pesticide levels in an adult’s body, a study has found.
The study, led by Dr Liza Oates, course coordinator of the Masters of Wellness program at RMIT University, found measurements of pesticides in participants’ urine were 89 per cent lower when they ate an organic diet for a week.
Dr Oates said the dramatic drop suggested most of these pesticides had come from food consumption.
The participants on organic diets ate 93 per cent organic food; 83 per cent was certified organic and 10 per cent ‘likely organic’.
