The annual Leura Harvest Festival is a community celebration of the bounty of the season. Featuring local organic food, regional wine and cider, fresh produce, plants and herbs, sustainable living initiatives, and handmade natural beauty products, the festival is renowned for its popular Pet Chook Show and scarecrow competition.

18–20 May

Thinking of keeping bees in your backyard, balcony, rooftop? Learn all about it at the Amateur Beekeepers Association Conference 18–20 May. Join the NSW Governor His Excellency David Hurley (a keen beekeeper), Costa Georgiadis and a host of other eminent bee specialists on the NSW Central Coast. Flow Hive’s co-inventor Stuart Anderson will update everyone on what’s happened since the the launch of his radical Australian invention, Des Cannon will explain the basics of turning a bee hobby into a business. And some of the country’s top bee scientists will explain their work on genetics, bee behaviour, wild bee pollinators and mapping local pollens. 

On Sunday, which is the UN’s designated World Bee Day, practical demonstrations and a trade show will give current and future beekeepers a chance to learn skills and shop for equipment and bee-related goodies.
