Beechworth Patch to Patch Pedal

Take a ride through the historic streets of gold rush era Beechworth while galvanising your green thumb and filling up on urban agricultural inspiration at 10 open backyard vegie patches.

The inaugural Patch to Patch Pedal and Precinct will be held on October 19 and is the brainchild of the Beechworth Landcare Group.

“Backyard food production is so important for so many reasons and we are really passionate about getting more people growing their own food,” says organiser Charlie Showers. "We also hope to grow the event and make it annual."

Complimenting the ride is the Patch to Patch Precinct at the old Beechworth Railway Station (which is now the trailhead for one of Victoria’s iconic bike adventures - the Murray to Mountains Railtrail). See the Pop Up Patch - a brand new vegetable garden, made in conjunction with the local youth group and constructed from recycled apple crates; eat at the Pop up Cafe, selling local paddock to plate produce; pick up some seedlings grown by prisoners from the Beechworth correctional facility and visit the Landcare tent selling ride tickets and bursting with vegie growing information like local seasonal planting guides and ABC Organic Gardener magazines!
